La Spezia at a glance

La Spezia is a seaside town located at the easternmost tip of Liguria. The city centre unfolds along an elegant seafront promenade, the renowned Passeggiata Morin, dotted with public gardens, palm trees, and flowerbeds that offer picturesque views of the gulf. The urban heart is crossed by Via del Prione, the quintessential shopping street, while Piazza Verdi and Piazza Cavour, the latter home to the lively city market, animate the daily life of the town.

A few kilometres from the town opens the breathtaking Gulf of Poets, an enchanting expanse of water that opens onto the Ligurian Sea and owes its evocative name to the numerous poets and writers, including Lord Byron, Percy Bysshe Shelley and Dante Alighieri, who over the centuries were captivated by it.

Thanks to its strategic location, it is the ideal starting point for excursions to Portovenere, Palmaria Island and the Tuscan coast. The railway line connecting the picturesque villages of the Cinque Terre in just a few minutes departs from the city centre.

La Spezia is perfect for those who wish to combine the tranquility of a human-scale city with the convenience of having some of Italy's most beautiful destinations within easy reach. It also offers a lively yet relaxed atmosphere, with traditional restaurants, local markets and sea views that accompany every moment of the day.
